Lecture I – Simulating Urban Design Futures

Information Architecture and Future Cities / Simulating Urban Design Futures is a series of highly topical lectures that introduce the concept of Information Architecture and present powerful techniques to simulate future buildings and cities. The lectures explore theories and technologies of integrated modelling for architectural and urban thoeory, design and representation. They bring together information visualisation, urban design theory and new digital technologies in urban information mapping, modelling and 3-D simulation, as a way of understanding how cities transform and differentiate over time. The lecture is both theoretical and practical. The examples are based on evolving research at the Chair for Information Architecture and on the working experience of the guest lecturers from Zurich and London.

The course is coordinated with “New Methods in Urban Simulation”.
